SULF at Chalmers annually awards a prize of 10 000 SEK for the best bachelor's or master's thesis related to union work. In 2025, the theme is "The role of technology in the future work place" which is closely tied to key union issues such as: working conditions, equality, transition, participation, and the impact of technology on the nature of work. Examples of research areas include
- Work environment and safety
- The effects of AI and automation on work
- Digitalization and changing work methods
- Sustainable energy transition and its impact on the workforce
- Equality, inclusion, and ethics in engineering professions
The purpose of the prize is to support student works aimed at improving people's working conditions. Nominate yourself or someone else before August 30, 2025. Nominations should be sent to sulf-chalmers@chalmers.se and include:
- A completed nomination form.
- Bachelor’s thesis/master’s thesis (a draft or a summary if the report is not yet finished)
Assessment criteria and focus areas:
- Clear connection to how engineering knowledge can be used to create a better work life.
- The work demonstrates technical innovation, problem-solving, or systems understanding within the chosen area.
- The work discusses how technology affects people, organizations, or society at large.
- How well-structured the bachelor’s/master’s thesis is, including professional presentation of visualizations, figures, and data.
